Cool blog post about a photo of lavender. This was taken in my garden last summer

This sweet family had a unique request for their session location – they wanted to spend the day at the lovely forested retreat Land of Medicine Buddha. Special places make for special portraits -
We explored the trails, finding prayer wheels, chimes, Buddha statues, and lots of great places for the little one to practice walking -
And then, to the beach!
Thank you for choosing me as your photographer, and introducing me to this amazing place! Your proofs will be coming soon.
Love,
Hari
I got to visit this little one again for her 6-month session, and my how she’s grown in just a few months! Here’s a sneak preview from our afternoon -
She donned her explorer’s hat and was all smiles for some outside playtime –
Back inside with a new outfit on, we saw the biggest smile yet!
Such a sweet little girl… love the tutu!
Thank you thank you for sharing your day with me!
Love,
Hari
Strolling through Filoli on a hot summer day transports you to another world, away from the city and the busyness of life. Wander the pathways through the extensive grounds (a big hat is a must!) to find exquisitely maintained gardens, bubbling fountains, and shady spots to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Brick buildings with climbing vines set off the soft petals of the English country garden –
And the abundant cutting gardens attract the birds and the bees -
With so much to do and so much to enjoy outside, I never seem to find the time to blog over the summer. But I have a few cutie sessions coming up that I promise to share – stay tuned!

I had such fun doing newborn portraits for this lovely San Francisco family – it’s a truly amazing experience to help a family capture the very early days with a new child!
She had such an adorably serious little face… and a *fabulous* wardrobe!
Can’t forget about the dog!
Such a sweet family…
Asleep at last…
What a beautiful little lady. Thank you guys for choosing me as your family photographer and sharing your day with me – enjoy your preview!
Love,
Hari
I’ve been away for a while because my darling sister got married this month in a lovely ceremony at the Outdoor Art Club. Congrats Katy & John!!
She hired a photographer so I could be her maid of honor (well, “matron” of honor… ugh) and enjoy the wedding, but I took a few snaps while we were getting ready in the bridal suite.
This is one of my favorites – Katy, you were (and are) absolutely stunning!
The day began, of course, with hair and makeup…
Once in the bridal suite, we got Katy into her dress and ready for her portraits. Here’s her photographer, Muir Adams, in action. And Mom, seeing her in the full wedding getup for the first time -
A little champagne + best friends + new family = lots of fun waiting for the ceremony to begin -
Final preparations, and then we’re off! Time to put down the camera…
Love you, Katy!
John’s uncle, also John, officiated a beautiful ceremony that had us all crying, and laughing, and crying again. It was truly a celebration of life and of love.
Katy and John, I’m so happy for you two. You have many happy years to look forward together… of course with your love deepening and strengthening along the way.
Love,
Hari
ps – I’ve been busy with photo work as well… more on that soon!
I’m off to Las Vegas this weekend for WPPI 2011! It’s the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International convention and tradeshow, and promises a fantastic lineup of speakers, workshops and events.
If you happen to be there too, come say hello! I’ll be hanging out with the lovely folks from Zenfolio and giving a couple talks at their booth on Tuesday.
Hope to see you there!

It’s that time again! Time to flex those writing fingers and pick out your favorite photos from the year. Even if you’re not planning to write a short novel with a full account of the year’s happenings, everyone will love receiving a card with your smiling mug.
I’m teaming up with minted.com this year for their huge selection of unique & customizable designs that are printed on super-nice paper. There are cheaper ways to do cards for sure, but after seeing these you’ll never want to go back.
Looking for inspiration? How about these cuties!
Minted has some fun products like calendars (that are actually nice!), folding “yearline” cards to share photos in a time-line format, and mini booklets. Here are a couple samples -
If you’d like to use photos from a session we’ve done this year, I’ll upload one image directly to minted.com at no charge. Additional digital files can be purchased from your proofing site — include a note that you’re ordering cards from minted and I’ll upload them for you directly (you’ll also get the download).
For those crazy-organized types who already know exactly what they want to send, get your cards ordered by the end of the day on November 28th (um, tomorrow) and you can take advantage of their Black Friday deals: 20% off all orders of $150+ (code THANKS20) or 15% off all orders of $100+ (code THANKS15). That’s some good stuff.
Happy Thanksgiving!
There’s so much world out there – no time to waste! This cutie loved being outside and exploring. Today, the park. Tomorrow, the world!
This would make a sweet holiday card, no? And OMG that sweatshirt is SO CUTE.
To the rather perplexed little girl playing in the park: thank you for letting us borrow your shiny red tricycle. It was awfully good of you. No, he can’t really ride it yet. But yes, he’d still like to sit on it anyway. This is why -
Love you guys! Thanks for sharing your day with me. Your proofs are coming soon.
Love,
Hari
(And by the way for you SF Bay Area families: if you’re thinking of doing portraits before the holidays, now is the time to schedule your session! Before things get C R A Z Y.)
In addition to abundant energy, this sweet little man had the funnest giggly laugh and lots of love for his mama and papa -
Hold on guys, I gotta take this…
Look for a little special something in the mail soon!
Love,
Hari
There’s nothing quite like Fairyland when you’re little. The possibilities for playing, exploring, and making new friends are endless, and everything is sized just right.
I hadn’t been back to Fairyland since I was small, so I had a blast trying to keep up with this energetic toddler as she and her mama showed me all their favorite spots -
Check you out!
Where the big kids play…
Inspecting the tunnel…
OMG there are squirrels – RUN AWAY!!
Turning the key makes the magic happen ~
Love that reading room…
Let’s go exploring!
Thanks for sharing your day with me and bringing back such great memories!
Love,
Hari
